Mixed Media, including Recycled materials, Paper, wire, Paper Clay and Fibers
My current endeavor, referred to as The Pulp Fiction Creation series, is dubbed because the medium is primarily recycled paper, cardboard and paper clay, although, through experimentation it has grown to encompass many other materials as well. As a result I have stumbled onto a material that is as enduring as any art medium. My Paper Clay formula is amazingly durable and versatile. This series has become an obsession inspired by the elusive beauty and wonder of Mother Nature.
As an artist, I am compelled and inspired by these creatures, and beings, large and small, to recreate them as seen through my own eyes. I do this in order to honor them, while at the same time allowing them their freedom to exist unfettered and unharmed. This compulsion has much to do with that primal drive that make humans want to capture and possess something beautiful or unique. Most likely for the same reason any artist creates anything inspired by the beauty of nature and the all mighty
Capturing that beauty, that essence, and the individual spirit of each of the creatures and beings that inspire me in my own style is my ultimate goal. Each creature or being is unique and as a result, each sculpture creates a new challenge that requires a varying and unique mixture of media and techniques. Each creation begged me to explore something new in order to capture that particular subject's spirit and essence. It is the process of creating that I find most fulfilling. Each sculpture often take weeks or even months to create. Now that I have created them, it is my desire to give others the opportunity to own my creations as well. So they may find good homes where they will continue to be loved.
